If you follow us on Instagram, you are familiar with our Friday First series and I just got the pictures from one of our December weddings and I just need you to see the cuteness of it all!
First of all, the thing I need you to know the most is Callie is the sweetest human on the face of the planet. I dare you to try to find someone nicer. Callie, Dot (her sister) and her mom also are the most precious mother-daughter trio that ever as well. So basically, the recipe for cuteness overload was pretty strong.
Callie was not afraid to let Christmas shine at her wedding and I LOVED that about her! Full-fledged Christmas music, wreaths, poinsettias, garland, Christmas trees and best of all, SANTA!
We set up at the Gaylord Pickens Heritage Museum Friday afternoon and unpacked Christmas trees, faux gifts, and live garland. Callie remembered she didn't have anything for the flower girls to carry or anything on the cocktail tables but no big deal, that's why you hire MOE! I ran up to my wholesaler and grabbed enough flowers to make the little girls bouquets and little bud vases and some Italian ruscus for those bistros! I also instructed the guys to go purchase giant suction cups so we could use those beautiful wreaths on the glass walls. (Shameless plug for why you hire a professional that can problem solve on the fly!)
The rehearsal was dreary and rainy but that didn't stop our plans for an outdoor wedding! Guys, in the midst of December, Callie and Wes got married on the ONE day it was 50-60 degrees! Beautiful outside, chilly enough to feel like fall but comfortable enough to be outside -- it was perfect! (About midnight, the state was hit with a frigid cold front and froze the city in a matter of hours! Talk about perfect timing!)
Callie and Wes have an abundance of friends but they chose to keep their wedding party simple by just having a MOH and a Best Man by their sides at the altar which made the ceremony all the more intimate. Post-Ceremony, guests exited the courtyard to the second floor to a cocktail hour where they were greeted by cranberry margaritas and bites from Abbey Road Catering.
Christmas music filled the reception room as guest mingled. First dances, second dances, were had and the playlist (designed by Callie) turned to Gangsta's Paradise and then everyone knew it was time to party! After the toasts, the guests were treated to a special surprise by a visit from Santa himself! Cookies and milk were delivered to guests and the mistletoe was hung for all the Christmas kisses!
In true form, Callie and Wes were almost the last to leave the reception, making sure to tell everyone bye and asking if they could help clean up. We said absolutely not and kicked them out! All in all, it was the perfect Christmas party and celebration of the love and bond of two people that were once friends, but that fell in love! #SmittoninLove
PS - I still content that a good wedding hashtag alternative should have been #SittonOnSantasLap
